![]() It was telling me can't find 'gnome-terminal'! It tried to run it, but showed an error which became the final solution to my problem. So, I have the executable 'open-terminal-here' in the folder '.config/caja/scripts/'. Now, just for curiosity I tried to run this executable from my home folder from the terminal. However, I forced to make it an executable again by running the command chmod +x. I realized that the file we made in the scripts folder 'open-terminal-here' is supposed to be an executable initially. Now, technically the shortcut is written and it should work, but it was not :( At some point, I think I have also used it, in the beginning, I was able to save changes properly. In that case, try to follow the steps explained here in this page. However, from the previous post I mentioned it seems like some people will still have problems editing the file, it gets rewritten automatically. So I found this line (gtk_accel_path "/ScriptsGroup/script_file:\\s\\s\\shome\\sUSERNAME\\s.config\\scaja\\sscripts\\sopen-terminal-here" " ")Īnd removed the ':' and space at the end of the line Here in this file all lines starts with a semicolon( ), and I learnt that that means it is a commented line. Then as suggested in the next step I went to folder '.config/caja/' and opened the file named 'accels' using vim(or any other editor) in this file I could see the line about making a shortcut to open terminal in current directory and I was surprized. # You need to have caja-actions installed to use scripts. # Put this file in your ~/.config/caja/scripts/ directory. # Distributed under the terms of GNU GPL version 2 or later # This script opens a gnome-terminal in the current directory. ![]() ![]() Like its predecessor, Catching Fire engages serious themes with a fairly light touch. She’s not doing it out of strategy, but from the heart – which of course makes her all the more compelling as a rallying figure. While visiting one of the other districts, where Katniss and Peeta are forced to offer eulogies for the community’s fallen children, she inadvertently incites the crowd by offering a genuinely anguished remembrance. Lawrence especially shines when she lets that disgust burst out. And so she agrees to join Peeta on a “parade of champions” tour, even if the whole charade disgusts her.Ĭatching Fire engages serious themes with a fairly light touch. (In Lawrence, they also have an actress capable of pulling this off.) Katniss may be a wild card, but so far she’s a reluctant revolutionary – a girl more concerned with keeping her mother and sister safe than in leading any sort of rebellion. One of the wonderful things about both films is the way they ground the political machinations within the psychology of a complex character. Not that it’s a role she’s eager to embrace. Having won the game in a non-traditional way – she and fellow District 12 contestant Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) outwitted the game-makers so that both would survive – Katniss has become something of a rebel figure for the people of the more downtrodden districts. Turns out, pretty much what we got before: a well-crafted and superbly acted sci-fi dystopia that resonates with much of what’s happening in our current age and will likely resonate well into the future.Ĭatching Fire finds teen heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) back home in District 12 after surviving a sadistic, gladiator-style contest against other youth put on annually by her totalitarian government. Add the fact that the sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, brought in a new director (Francis Lawrence) and new screenwriters (Simony Beaufoy and Michael Arndt) and who knew what we were going to get? I liked The Hunger Games quite a bit – it made my 2012 top-ten list – but it was hard to tell if the initial adaptation of the Suzanne Collins book series was simply a fluke. ![]() ![]() We have ourselves a bona fide science-fiction movie series, people. ![]() ![]() 400 099 Web banner Material Building, house, white and brown concrete house surrounded by plants, condominium, room, houses png 848x702px 558.48KB.gray and white concrete mansion, House Property Real Estate Single-family detached home Suburb, European house, building, condominium, houses png 1024圆83px 934.05KB.white house illustration, House Villa, House, bathroom, landscape, grass png 1036圆53px 249.57KB. ![]() Roof tiles House Downspout Architectural engineering, house, building, window, villa png 800x533px 722.36KB.white and red painted building illustration, Wellawatte Visit Sri Lanka Gaur Yamuna City Apartment Real Estate, building, building, condominium, property png 900x1150px 1.07MB.white 2-storey house illustration, Housing House Home Icon, house, angle, building, houses png 512x512px 128.91KB.Window Property Facade House Roof, Luxury home, building, window, elevation png 820x440px 315.8KB.Building Apartment Business Information, Building, building, service, condominium png 575x500px 376.49KB.man holding beer Simpson character, Barney Gumble Homer Simpson Moe Szyslak Marge Simpson Milhouse Van Houten, simpsons, heroes, springfield, hand png 1678x2268px 1.25MB.House Home, house, image File Formats, flower, villa png 848x702px 584.29KB.Minecraft House-building House-building Interior Design Services, MODERN HOUSE, furniture, building, window png 652x502px 113.01KB.House graphy, house, white and red house illustration, angle, building, houses png 500x500px 80.99KB.Juliet Real Estate, house, building, condominium, window png 1920x1080px 2.58MB House, Houses, building, window, desktop Wallpaper png 1698x1131px 1.42MB.The Simpsons: Tapped Out Ralph Wiggum House Bart Simpson Lisa Simpson, farmer, building, springfield, property png 1004x717px 131.27KB.Building Cartoon Facade, building, service, condominium, apartment png 616x449px 179.61KB.House Cartoon, house, building, apartment, property png 6598x3241px 2.52MB.brown 2-storey house illustration, Home improvement Renovation House Bathroom, Real estate house, kitchen, angle, building png 4500x2701px 7.08MB.Home inspection House Mortgage loan Real Estate, home renovation, building, window, insurance png 989x567px 610.05KB.House Home insurance Home improvement, house, building, room, window png 683圆73px 264.32KB. ![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() Paul Mah is a freelance writer and blogger who lives in Singapore. Ultimately, businesses shouldn’t stop at eliminating paper but should push for greater digitization in order to reap its full benefits. ![]() Re-architecting business processes to reduce paper usage is an unavoidable activity, but adopting the right tools can go a long way toward creating an environment to support the paperless office. It’s a series of continuous efforts to move away from paper and establish a culture that frowns on waste. ![]() Successfully reducing the use of paper isn’t a one-time event. These files can be subsequently uploaded to a cloud storage service, where they can be shared and subsequently viewed from a smartphone or tablet. Meanwhile, for businesses that don’t own a hardware scanner, apps such as TurboScan and Scanner Pro can capture documents with a smartphone’s build-in camera. On this front, a variety of smartphone apps, including CamCard and WorldCard Mobile, will capture the content of business cards and generate a digital contact.ġ4. Why not take it to the next level and attempt to increase personal productivity through the use of digitization technologies?ġ3. In many cases, digitized notes offer the convenience of being searchable and occupy no physical space when stored as binary bits on a storage drive. Of course, digitizing paper isn’t just about reducing waste. In fact, many mid-end printers set this feature as default. Printers that support duplex printing today are highly reliable and available at just a slight premium over non-duplex capable models. For the inevitable paperwork that must be printed, using both sides can cut paper usage by half. For example, ABBYY FineReader turns PDF files and digital photographs into Microsoft Word, Excel or searchable PDF formats.ġ2. Optical character recognition (OCR) software turns the static images or PDF files created by hardware scanners into editable files that are substantially more useful. The portable flatbed Doxie Flip scanner, for example, can capture what’s written in notebooks and other content that may not fit through the feeder of a conventional sheet-fed scanner.ġ1. Aside from network scanners, recent years have seen the rise of “personal” scanner meant for small group or even individual use. Digitizing paper notes and printed literature makes it easy to share documents electronically and lowers the temptation to make photocopies. For example, the eFax paid option allows users to send up to 150 pages per month from an email message, through an online portal, or from a mobile app.ġ0. This mature market includes various free and paid options that essentially eliminate the need for a physical fax machine. In order to work with vendors and clients that insist on using the fax machine, sign up for an online fax provider that will email an incoming fax direct to your inbox. The point is, there may be situations where it would be unfair and counterproductive to insist on change, especially if the resulting reduction in paper usage is minimal.ĩ. While excellent alternatives such as the Jolt Script stylus have emerged to deliver an experience comparable to that of using a real pen, they can be pricey and may not convince a purist. In addition, doodling or sketching represents a good way for some to flesh out their thoughts. ![]() Moreover, industries such as law and auditing may not be good candidates to go paperless due to the historical prevalence of paper. The realities of paper in our society force even the most tech-savvy businesses, even start-ups with no legacy processes and habits, to contend with external forces such as client needs and regulatory or legal requirements. Completely eliminating paper may not be economical or even practical for everyone. One big reason is that, when it comes to eradicating paper, organizations must be realistic. For proof, just step into the office of any small business.Īt a time when almost every employee has access to a computer terminal, and when mobile devices with pixel densities indistinguishable from that of print media are now commonplace, it’s strange that more hasn’t done to reduce the usage of paper. The “ paperless office,” coined as a marketing slogan in the early days of the IBM computer, has not yet arrived, despite anecdotal evidence that the use of paper may finally be on the downtrend. ![]() ![]() ![]() Because of this, I had to use a timer on my phone to remind me to periodically check the meat. I was disappointed that the unit’s timer isn’t connected to the controls, so it doesn’t turn the smoker off when the timer finishes. I did need to add additional wood chips every hour to keep the smoke strong, and while the process was time-consuming, it was worth it, as the ribs came out amazingly moist and flavorful-my only regret was that I didn’t make more! Because this process took several hours, I didn’t finish smoking until dinner time, and it was extremely handy that the smoker has an inner light that turns on when you open the door. Louis-style ribs using applewood chips and the 3-2-1 smoking method, which involves three stages of cooking over the course of several hours. That said, the food I cooked in the Masterbuilt Smoker turned out absolutely delicious. Given that I was testing the unit in the middle of the winter in New England, I suspect this was the root of the problem, as it was only in the 20s outside. While the manual says it should work in temperatures up to -10 degrees Farenheight, users report the unit will display an ERR1 code if the ambient temperature is below freezing. It turns out that the Masterbuilt Smoker doesn’t like cold weather. Dreading the prospect of boxing up the massive unit to return it, I turned to online forums to hopefully find a resolution to the issue-and I did, but it wasn’t necessarily good news. The manufacturer recommends disconnecting and reconnecting the control panel wires to resolve this error code, but that didn’t work. The first few times I turned the smoker on, it displayed “ERR1” on the display screen and wouldn’t let me set the unit’s temperature. While I did eventually get the Masterbuilt Bluetooth Digital Electric Smoker working and was ultimately pleased with the results, the process wasn’t without its hiccups. The Spruce Eats / Camryn Rabideau Performance: Great flavors-once you get it going I often found myself doing weird contortions, like leaning over the unit, in order to clearly read the LED screen. Mounted on the top of the unit, the panel is easy to operate, with buttons for temperature, time, and Bluetooth connectivity, but the problem is that the screen is black with blue lettering that’s hard to read, especially in the sunlight. ![]() The one big shortcoming of the Masterbuilt Digital Electric Smoker is its display screen. Underneath this piece is the small wood chip tray, which is easy to pull out when it’s time to dispose of ashes. I generally just filled it with water when smoking, but the brand says you can use other liquids, such as apple juice, or put slices of fresh fruit in the water to infuse even more flavor into food. The smoker has a removable water tray in the bottom that holds roughly 8 cups of liquid. The smoker also has a meat probe that plugs into the control panel, and there’s a slot on the interior of the unit where the probe can be stored when not in use. I found it worked best to remove any racks that weren’t being used-otherwise, fat drippings can end up on them, creating more mess to clean. Inside the smoker, there are four chrome-coated racks that can hold up to eight racks of ribs at a time, and this was more than enough space for my needs. One of my favorite aspects of this smoker is the side wood chip loading system, which allows you to add more chips without opening the smoker door. Once these burned off, I simply turned the unit off and let it cool down before emptying the ashes from the wood chip tray. It only smoked a tiny bit during this process, though it smelled a bit like burning chemicals at first, and in the last 45 minutes, I put in 1/2 cup of wood chips per the manual’s instructions. Masterbuilt explains that pre-seasoning burns off any chemicals or oils leftover from the manufacturing process, and it simply entails running the smoker at 275 degrees for several hours without any food inside. However, don’t expect that you’ll be able to start smoking meat right away-the smoker needs to be “pre-seasoned” before its first use, and this process took around three hours. All these components were wrapped in a generous amount of packaging for safe transport, and overall, the whole setup process took around 30 minutes. The Masterbuilt Bluetooth Digital Electric Smoker arrives in a huge, heavy box (I’d say it’s around 80 pounds), so you’ll probably need help moving it-I know I did! The main body of the smoker is already assembled, and once I wrestled it out of the packaging (a chore in and of itself), all that was left to do was attach the control panel, wheels, and handle and insert the racks and water tray into the unit. The Spruce Eats / Camryn Rabideau Setup Process: Save time for pre-seasoning ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of these include using tracking devices attached to golf clubs, GPS-enabled rangefinders, and smartphone apps. While fitting a GPS tracker directly into a golf ball may not be feasible, there are alternative solutions to tracking a golf ball’s location. ![]() Golfers often lose balls during play, and replacing them with GPS-tracked balls could become a costly endeavor. Additionally, the practicality of using GPS-tracked golf balls comes into question. High-quality golf balls can already be expensive, and adding advanced technology could make them even pricier. Implementing GPS tracking in golf balls would likely increase their cost significantly. Any solution would need to ensure that the ball’s performance remains uncompromised. Adding a GPS tracker and a power source to a golf ball could potentially alter these factors, impacting the ball’s flight and overall performance. The ball’s design, including its dimples and materials, affects its aerodynamics, lift, and drag. The golf ball’s performance is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the game. Finding a power solution that is small, lightweight, and capable of providing sufficient power for the GPS tracker without affecting the golf ball’s performance is another challenge to overcome. Most GPS devices require a battery, which adds weight and bulk to the device. While miniaturized GPS trackers exist, fitting one into a golf ball without altering its size or weight could prove to be a challenging endeavor.Īnother critical aspect to consider is the power source for the GPS tracker. Integrating a GPS tracker into a golf ball would require the technology to be small and lightweight enough to maintain the ball’s dimensions and performance. This article explores the feasibility of fitting a GPS tracking system to a golf ball and the implications of doing so.Ī standard golf ball is approximately 1.68 inches (42.67 mm) in diameter and weighs 45.93 grams. One area that has seen some potential for GPS tracking is sports, where it can help to monitor athletes and equipment. From mobile phones to vehicle navigation, GPS tracking has become an indispensable tool for many. GPS technology has made significant strides in recent years, permeating various aspects of our lives. ![]() ![]() ![]() The perfect foundation lies in your skin’s pigment and undertones, which you may not even know what yours are!
